I live in Piispanristi and have been actively involved in municipal politics in Kaarina for the past four years, particularly through my positions of trust in the Peimari Educational Consortium and the Kaarina National Coalition Party. Over the next four years, I want to continue contributing to making Kaarina an even better place.
Professionally, I am an expert in labor market information, and my work is based in Helsinki. However, modern hybrid work allows me to work flexibly from Kaarina as well. I have an in-depth understanding of labor market, education, and economic development policies. My expertise lies in employment statistics and research, and I am currently pursuing a PhD at Tampere University on the implementation of labor market policies within employment regions. Through my work and research, I have strong connections with labor market researchers as well as key ministries and government agencies.
In the development of Kaarina, I want to focus particularly on economic vitality, entrepreneurship, and employment. Only a strong and prosperous municipality can ensure high-quality services for all its residents. At the same time, it is essential to maintain a high quality of life and preserve the surrounding natural environment, as these are Kaarina’s strengths and make it an attractive place to live. My goal is to help build a Kaarina where work, entrepreneurship, and housing come together and where the voices of residents are heard in decision-making.
Keeping Kaarina Vibrant, Livable, and Safe
In the upcoming council term, I want to ensure that Kaarina retains its strengths: a pleasant urban environment, a well-balanced city structure, and a harmony between housing, entrepreneurship, and nature values. Kaarina’s appeal is built on high-quality services, diverse housing options, and a strong local economy—together, these elements create an attractive and dynamic city.
As an expert in labor market policy, I want to develop the city's employment and business services so that they better support job seekers, businesses, and educational institutions. High employment, a thriving economy, and responsible financial management form the foundation for high-quality public services. At the same time, as Kaarina continues to grow, it must do so sustainably, ensuring that green spaces and livability remain a key part of the city's development.
In today's security climate, protecting critical infrastructure is more important than ever, and the city has a role in ensuring its resilience. Additionally, Kaarina must take proactive steps to prevent the emergence of socioeconomically disadvantaged areas, as these can contribute to insecurity for both residents and the wider community. Preventive measures—such as investments in youth services, thoughtful urban planning, and cooperation between the city and various stakeholders—are key to addressing these challenges.
A safe city also means that people should be able to move freely and securely at any time of the day or night. Well-maintained public spaces, access to sports and recreational facilities, and proper upkeep of streets and pedestrian routes create an environment that encourages an active lifestyle for all residents. Physical activity and a strong sense of community enhance both individual well-being and overall safety—this is why it’s essential to ensure that these aspects are prioritized across all neighborhoods.
